Curriculum content

  • This course provides an overview of industrial radiography, the discovery and history of radiographic materials, and radiation safety.
    • Lesson Unlocked _ Chapter 1 Introduction to Radiology:

  • The topics in this review of math principles that apply to radiography covers exponents, how to find the area of a square, square root, fractions, decimals, how to convert fractions to decimals, degrees, recognizing perpendicular, understanding circumference, diameter and radius, and how to position station markers on a number belt.
  • This course provides instruction on the topics of elements, atoms, molecules, and compounds, atomic particles, atomic structure, and isotope and radioisotopes.
  • This course includes the production of radiographic materials, stable vs. unstable atoms, curies and bequerels, half-life, radioactive decay and specific activity.
  • In this course, topics are particulate radiation, electromagnetic radiation, and gamma and x-ray radiation.
  • This course teaches how ionization occurs, units of radiation exposure, the meaning of half value and tenth value layers, how radiation interacts with matter, emissivity, and the use of the inverse square law in radiography.
  • This course provides information on the operation of radioisotope sources, x-ray tubes and how they work, and medium and high energy x-ray tubes and their uses.
  • This course reviews methods for controlling personnel exposure, and the types and uses of radiation detection equipment.
  • This topics in this course are the electromagnetic spectrum, understanding penetration of radiation, the spectrum of x-ray tubes and gamma ray sources, geometric exposure principles, and how radiographic screen and cassettes are used.
  • This course covers the requirements of single and double wall radiography, panoramic radiography, and the multi-film technique.
